ITALI Project (ITalian Agri-food & Logistics Infrastructures) is the association of Italian firms from complementary sectors to promote and develop the Italian food distribution system at the international level. Established around ITALMERCATI Rete di Imprese, the consortium of the main managing companies of wholesale markets and food logistics platforms in Italy, this project aims at valorizing the Italian know-how in food distribution and offering consulting and engineering services to public and/or private operators all around the world to:
Visit to CAR with a delegation of the Province of TucumanVisit to CAR with a delegation of the Province of Tucuman in Argentina (Embassy of Argentina) and its Governor. He expressed its ambition to collaborate with CAR on two axes: - The increase of trade between the Province of Tucuman and the Lazio region - Know-how transfer to create and modernize the distributions systems in the province. The Governor addressed an official invitation for a visit of Tucuman province to the management team of CAR to go forward in this collaboration.
Visit to CAR with the Embassy of EgyptVisit to CAR with the Embassy of Egypt Visit to CAR with the First Secretary and Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Egypt. This second visit in 2018 confirmed the ambition to develop trade of fresh products between Egypt and Italy, and to collaborate for the creation of an agri-food platform dedicated to urban food supply and export.
Meeting with the Embassy of Thailand in C.A.R.
C.A.R. received the Permanent Represent of Thailand to FAO, IFAD and WFP and the First Secretary (Agriculture) of the Royal Thai Embassy for a technical visit and a meeting to begin a close collaboration for the promotion of Thai food products in Italy, and a possible technical collaboration on agri-food platforms modernization in Thailand.
Technical visit with FAO Food system and Nutrition Division
CAR organized a technical visit for FAO‘s staff in order to present the benefits of Italian agri-food platforms model for developing and in transition countries. The visit was followed by a discussion about the particular interest of such platforms for giving access to market to smallholders and local products. It represents a step forward in the fruitful collaboration between CAR and FAO since the conference “the fresh way to feed the planet” in May 2017.
WUWM Congress in Barcelona: ITALMERCATI and CAR in action the promotion of a Manifest for the European Wholesale Markets.
CAR and Italmercati participated to the WUWM Congress in Barcelona. As initiated during the Rome meeting of the 7 main European federations of wholesale markets, the European markets finally find an agreement on a common Manifest to promote European wholesale markets before EU Commission. The Coordinator of the European Group of WUWM hailed the fundamental contribution of ITALMERCATI and CAR on this action.
